Giving back means a lot to the whole team at ICB, and we were delighted at the opportunity to support an amazing charity recently, Variety, with a tough cycling challenge.
Variety do some truly fantastic work to support thousands of disabled young people across the UK who are living in poverty. Their work is all focused on improving the lives of these children and we’re delighted to be able to support them through our charity work. Due to Coronavirus, Variety saw a big dip in fundraising so came up with their first-ever virtual event, Pedal for Purpose, which invited participants to take on a 200 or 400-mile cycling challenge.
Team ICB said ‘challenge accepted’ and throughout the month of April, we opted for the 400-mile goal and managed to cycle an impressive 484 miles as a team!
With gyms being closed at the time of the event, some of our team decided to cycle outdoors and others in their home gyms / garages to pull together and raise funds for Variety. The money that we’ve raised will help support disabled and disadvantaged children across the UK by buying specialist disability equipment, funding memorable day drips and so much more.
Over the past 4 years, we have supported many Variety initiatives from getting involved in fundraisers, fantastic charity evening balls to donating prizes for their raffles. We’ve also previously donated the necessary funds to enable them to purchase a Sunshine Coach. The Sunshine Coach scheme enables schools and organisations to plan activities without worrying about the cost and timing of public transport. Wheelchair access is taken care of, and it allows those children with special needs to explore places they would otherwise never visit.
